+ WATER POLO

MINIS: UNDER 12'S

JUNIORS: UNDER 18'S

SENIORS: MEN'S & WOMENS

Morley Swimming and Water Polo Club is both a competitive and social swimming and water polo club which was established in 1892 as Morley Amateur Swimming club. We changed our name to reflect our clubs core focus, which is Water Polo.

We are a member of Swim England and are SwimMark Accredited, and we provide competitive training with Swim England-qualified coaches. Our players have competed at all levels of competitions, including the Olympic, World Championships, National Championships, & Regional Competitions, ensuring that the town of Morley is promoted far and wide.

Not only do we compete on the International, National, Regional & Local levels, we also have officials that do the same. Whilst we are proud of our International officials, it's our contribution to the sport in Yorkshire which brings us a sense of pride, providing 90% of referees to the local leagues, and having senior leadership positions running the competitions across the county.

The club has been located in the Historic Market Town of Morley, and are the only club in the town that has continuously operated in Morley's three leisure centres uninterrupted (Other than the most recent rebuild of Morley was ongoing)

We Currently train on a Thursday night 7pm-10pm, and we cater for ages 7+. To note: They must have completed stage 7 in order to join the club.

Mini Polo players: Aged 7 to 12:  should be able to do a minimum of 100m continuous swimming (as 50m front crawl and 50m other recognised stroke) and have completed stage 7 in swimming.

Junior Polo players: Aged 12 to 18: They should be able to do a minimum of 400m continuous front crawl, and will have ideally come from a competitive swimming or Water Polo Background.

Senior Players [Men & Women] then you must have a good level of swimming, ideally competitively trained and having a good base fitness level. Unfortunately, whilst Water Polo is a great sport to keep you fit, it isn't a great sport if you aren't fit and it simply isn't safe for you to take part in the session, as our risk assessments are based around competency.

The club offers three free sessions to anyone interested in taking part in the sport. No cost, No Commitment, simply turn up and give it a go. If you choose to continue training/playing then you will need to become a member of the club.

+ FINANCIAL SUPPORT

The Executive Officers (or the Committee) shall have the power in special circumstances to remit the whole or part of the fees, including the Swim England membership fees, to address issues of social inclusion.

+ PROTECTED CHARACTERISTICS

The only characteristic you need to play water polo at Morley is to be a stage 7+ swimmer. Thats it. If you can swim well, work hard, show respect to others, then it doesn't make a difference what gender, age, sexual orientation, physical or mental disabilities,  religion, skin colour or nationality that you are. Then you will find a club that wants you, that will treat you no differently to any other member.

Being a Yorkshire club, we do draw the line when it comes to Lancastrians playing for us. Only kidding, if they've seen the light and want to play for Morley, they are also welcome.

The current rules for Water Polo can be found on the Swim England website
